BUT... and there's always a but...after feeling disappointment and all of those other things, I quickly felt the need to re-establish that quasi sense of reliability and security for what lay ahead. Again, silly me! But hey, a girl can hope and dream right?! Anyway, since Germany was the only overseas base on the list, that means life for us in the next three years or so will continue to be conducted in the good ole US of A.
After Germany, our second choice was Florida. Now, I've been to Florida and its nice. I like it there and they have Disney, etc, etc. But when I think of FL, I think of the Orlando and Ft Meyers areas (where I've been) and know very little about the rest of the orange state. Well, well, well! To my surprise, I think I'm in love! The area we would be moving to is around the Clearwater/Destin area. Hel-lo beautiful, warm, sunny beaches!! I know its probably not the best idea, but I've been looking at houses in the area and, Ohhh yes, mama likes! : )
Disclaimer Alert: There is still a *small* chance Germany or another overseas base could return to this silly list, but for now, I choose what is going to stay and for sanity's sake, a base I can (maybe, kinda sorta) count on. As far as I'm concerned, its now looking like the sunny gulf coast of Florida for us! Yippee!!
What does this mean for my surrogacy journey you may ask?! Well...in a word, RELIEF! No more pressure, no more worrying about time. I can sit back, relax and wait for either my IM to be ready to move forward or for another opportunity to come knocking. Whew! *inhale....A-N-D, exhale slooowly* Ahh, how nice!
Due to the recent dump of snow we've received, I'm ready to pack my bags and head south as of yesterday. Yep, I'm that ready. Hey, it was a balmy 5 degrees here this morning and I need some warm Mmm-kay! ; )
At least my kids are having fun in the white stuff! Here's my little guy Colton or "Col-kie" as he calls himself, out in the "sh-no" today.
He loved it, but you can't tell here by his little sour face. haha!
Stompin through the "sh-no"
If anything else changes, you know you'll read it here!
Have a warm & wonderful weekend everyone!! : )

Sorry about Germany--but FL would be awesome!! (our temp today was -9...brrr...) So, when will you know for sure if you're going to FL?
ReplyDeleteFlorida is an excellent choice for surrogacy as it's a surrogate friendly state. Hopefully you'll get whatever it is that you want though, bet it Germany or someplace a bit....warmer!
ReplyDeleteYour little man Col-kie is adorable with those rosy red cheeks!! We're freezing our behinds off here in NJ/NY/PA right now (all three states cuz we're traveling this weekend). I am heading back to California on Thursday...will send some sunshine vibes your way!
Florida is going to be great!! I know you had your heart set on Germany and if it comes through, great, if not, it will also be great! Turn a negative into a positive as they say right? Beach = Wonderful. :)
ReplyDeleteCol-kie is such a cutie!! I bet he's going to sleep really well tonight! HA! HA! The cold always makes you sleep like a baby once inside all cozy ;-)
I like the idea of no more pressure for you on your surrogacy journey. There's a reason for everything. You are meant to be a wonderful blessing to a couple in need of their miracle.
HUGS :)

You could always come to Texas ;o) It's always warm here...well, you know- it was 50 today. Glad to hear yo have some relief as far as the surrogacy goes. It's hard enough to do this surrogacy thing without having to worry about time contraints! LOL!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about Germany being taken off the list, but Clearwater is beautiful. My DH and I went there for our anniversary one year. Like Courtney said, you could always come to TX! :-) We think it's cold anytime it's below 50, lol! And it's 37 today, so I'm freeeeeezing!
ReplyDeleteKristen...FLORIDA is awesome and know what????It's REALLLLLLYYYYY super close to Alabama (like only about 4 1/2 hours from where I live)!!!! HINT!!! Every year we go to Panama City Beach (PCB), FL for a family beach trip and an all girls beach trip. The Florida panhandle and its beaches are gorgeous! Nothing like the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Destin/Ft. Walton Beach, FL (abour 50 miles from PCB, FL) is where we would go when I was in college. Destin has got some wonderful places to live and some beautiful resorts too! Welcome to the south...I'm just sayin' (and hoping).
